| Laura & Rescue Todd All my first weim related rescues were with Weim mix shelter dogs - either by my sponsoring ones that I saw online from Petfinder.com in various parts of the country, and trying to get them into rescue groups in their area so they wouldn't be euthanized, or helping the ones in our local shelters. One of my favorites, Todd, is a beautiful and loving Weimaraner/Lab mix who started going downhill in the shelter, and was lucky to be rescued by a local rescue group and given a second chance to be adopted into a good home. I devote a lot of my weekends volunteering at shelters to help all dogs, but have a soft spot in my heart for Weims. |

| THE
RESCUE
VOLUNTEERS We are a plucky little band of folks. Catherine, Leslie, Laura, and Erin. Aided at different times and places by many. We have a deep love and affection for the Weimaraner in all its different shapes, sizes, colors, and ages. We are non-profit (boy is that an understatement!); 100% volunteer. We spend hundreds of hours per year attempting to protect, rehome, and care for the abandoned, unloved, disposed of, sick, injured, abused, and damaged Weims in Oregon and Washington and occassionally in Idaho and northern California. |
| Catherine & Rescue Rocket I've never been able to say no, which has gotten me into more trouble than I care to remember :-) I have rarely met a dog I did not like, and feel like most dogs are misunderstood. My neighbors have become used to me having an 'extra' dog in the yard. I did not consciously make a commitment to 'rescue', it just kind of happened. My first official rescue placement was Rocket. I fell in love with this dog. He just had something special and I could not understand why no one was adopting him. Finally, Brian in Arizona adopted Rocket, and he is now happily living in the desert. You can read more about Rocket in our Success Stories section. There is a saying, "Properly trained, man can be a dogs best friend." I think this is the premise of most of my rescue work, training the people to live with their dog. |
| Leslie & Rescue Paul For each rescuer I'm sure there is something that tugs at their heart, a special dog, an incredible experience that starts them on the journey that becomes rescue. For me it was Paul, my first real rescue. He became famous worldwide, had his picture in fundraiser cookbooks, and even had a chapter in a children's book written about his rescue story. He was the one, the inspiration for all I do in rescue today. I still cry when I think of dear Paul, for all he suffered before we got him, and for the genuine gift he became for so many people in the last few years of his life. |

| Erin & Rescue Riley I started in rescue by volunteering to create & maintain the rescue website. In today's world, you have to have a website! Seeing the sweet faces of the dogs day in and day out pulled me in a little farther. The first rescue I was personally involved with was Riley, an incredibly sweet Weimaraner who is now living happily with his new family. Soon after I fostered two adorable Weim-mix pupppies and helped them find their new families, which was very rewarding. I enjoy taking photos of our rescue dogs when I can to help them be seen in their best light. I have two Weims of my own, so I appreciate the ways of the gray ones. |
