| DONATE & VOLUNTEER |
| VOLUNTEER Would you like to donate your time or energy to helping Weimaraners in need? Volunteers are needed in the following areas: - Foster Homes Needed: Our most urgent need is for foster homes. Not every foster home can take every type of dog, and not every dog can go to any foster home. It seems our most serious need is for seniors, 8 years and older. Sometimes for a day or two, sometimes for months. But we need foster families for all dogs of all ages, young and old, thin and fat, shy and obnoxious. Yes, you are allowed to fall in love with your foster dog and keep it. Fostering is hard because we don't often know what we are going to give you. The only information we get is from a shelter who has only had the dog for a few hours or a few days. As you are likely aware, Weimaraners do very poorly in shelters and literally go crazy in a matter of a few days. A quiet, caring, warm, and understanding foster home could save a dog from euthanasia, even if it is fostered for just a few days. Please visit our Foster page for more information about becoming a foster family. - Walking: Donate your time to walk rescue dogs or pet them, and spend "special" time with them. - Transport: Volunteer to transport a Weimaraner. Sometimes we get a call from a shelter in Grants Pass, Bend, or occassionally farther flung places. If you can travel with a dog in your vehicle and make a quick trip occassionally, please let us know. Maybe you live in a condo and can't take a foster Weim, but this is a different way you can help. Please contact us and let us know if you would be willing to be on a list for transport. - Obedience Training: Want to take a dog through an obedience course? Lots of our rescue dogs come to us without enough obedience training to make them "good" house dogs. Are you good at training? Some just need a brush up course and some personal attention. Let us know if you would like to take a rescue dog to school! |
