Arlo
Meet Arlo! This boy is a loving 70 lbs Weimaraner and just 3.5 years old.

Arlo’s family calls him their big old muffin sweet guy. He is good with people and wants to be with his family as much as possible. While he is not left alone often, he is able to free roam and does not get into any trouble. He is crate trained but rarely in it as he sleeps on his dog bed at night.
Arlo is very easy to train. He enjoys the attention and wants to please. He knows the commands Sit, Lay Down, and Spin and some hand signals. He is e-collar trained for running off leash and leash trained.
Arlo is good with other dogs and the family gets together with friends with large dogs often. He is not one to seek out play at the dog park, he pretty much just runs around by himself checking out the smells and then returns to his person. When the family travels, he stays with a pet sitter who has two small dogs and they do well together. He lived with a cat for a short period but the cat did not want anything to do with him. Arlo didn’t chase the cat, but his owner cannot say whether he would be good with one.
He is living with two children ages 8 and 11 and has been a really good dog, tolerating the natural noise and chaos that comes with children. Unfortunately, there was an unexpected incident a few weeks ago. The older child was playing with a friend and locked the boy outside. The boy wanted back in and made noises about it and Arlo got anxious. When Mom walked past Arlo and her son to let the boy inside, Arlo turned and nipped the son in the crotch. Medical attention was necessary and the boy has recovered, but the parents are not comfortable keeping Arlo. It’s heartbreaking for everyone, especially the children, but we are hoping to find Arlo a home without children where he will be as loved and part of the mix as he is now.
Interestingly, Arlo has always gotten overly anxious when people are at the door. He has never been aggressive but the family would put him in the yard when people came to the door, and then let him in to meet them in the house which always went well. At the same time, his vet tells the owners that Arlo is the calmest Weimaraner he's ever met.
From the owners:
Arlo’s favorite things are being with his people. Lying in front of the fireplace and walking to get the kids from school. He loves the car and always being a part of what we are doing. His least favorite things are squirrels - haha. He does not like being cold, does not like smoke alarms (we cook with cast iron. He doesn’t love the gas stove and always gets close to the person not cooking). And we laugh at how he’ll fall asleep standing up because he doesn’t want to miss anything, and he will push the blinds up to watch us leave when he can’t come with us.

We’ve had Arlo since he was 8 weeks old. We have raised him with our two young kids and he has been a great family dog and well trained. He’s a great guy and wants to be with you all the time. He does get anxious in certain situations and doesn’t like to be away from his family. As hard as this is, he needs an environment with older or no children and plenty of room to run. He loves snuggling up and will follow you everywhere.
Arlo is neutered, microchipped and current on vaccines.
