Gunner
Gunner is a 2 y/o intact male Weimaraner. He is an all-around good dog and he’s gorgeous!! The pictures don’t do him justice.
He’s very good-natured and adapting well in his foster home. He’s very sweet and likes to nuzzle and lean on you. Then he looks at you with his head upside down with those amazing eyes. He’s very well-behaved and loving for being so young and found as a stray.
Gunner walks very well on a leash and is learning basic commands quickly, including sit and leave it. He loves his dog bed and sleeps all night without stirring too much. He likes to be close to his people and will sit at your feet waiting to have his head and neck scratched. He enjoys meal time – he’s even gained a few needed pounds since he’s been in his foster home.
He gets along well with other large dogs, and enjoys playing with the foster family's English Setter, especially chase and tug-o-war. Recently he even played with a tiny dog that visited. He was a little rough not knowing how this all works, but not aggressive, and he learned the appropriate boundaries quickly. We do not know how he would do living with a cat.
Gunner likes to show his affection with little love nibbles on your shirt, pants, and he is very fond of toes – he is learning that not everyone appreciates these nibbles. He was introduced to young kids and paid them no attention, but we do not have history on him having lived with kids.
He’s curious about new things and even sometimes a little scared of a new situation, but with reassurance he quickly realizes that it’s ok. He was hesitant to get in the car the first time, he now seems like a pro getting in and out. Once in the car he usually just lays down and travels well. He's not happy being left alone in the crate, but he goes in the crate often to sleep.
He is current on vaccines, currently on heartworm preventative and microchipped. He is a little underweight but a good eater and has put on some already. Gunner will be placed with a neuter contract requiring surgery within a specified time.
