Kona

Kona is a sweet almost 8 year old spayed female Weimaraner who loves her people unconditionally. She loves to stand on her back feet and give hugs to anyone willing to give her pets and affection. She loves to snuggle, either on the couch with you or your bed. She loves to go for car rides, as she knows then she won’t be excluded from the fun. She loves to go RV camping and hang out at the beach or river.

Kona is good on leash with a gentle leader/collar but does pull when in a harness. She knows the commands “sit, come, down,  go to your bed“ (but when you say “go to your bed” she walks slower than a turtle.) Kona is a fair weather Weimy who has been spoiled by AC and hates the rainy weather. She will go to the bathroom in the rain but you might have to say, “go potty” and point 10 times before she will go during the storm.

Kona is good with house cats and small dogs (see photos) When it comes to larger dogs she is fine being in their presence but those which try to get her to "play" will be appropriately alerted that she is too mature for that type of nonsense. She does get an occasional burst of energy and run around playing and jump over furniture but this is rare. Any small animals in the yard she will want to hunt them down, so small furry pets are a no go.

Kona does have some separation anxiety from her people. She will scratch, whine, and bark at the door until she hears the car pull away. She will settle down after a few minutes when she realizes you aren’t coming back right away.  She does not chew on things but will counter surf if a tasty treat is near the edge and no one is looking also. She loves to be outside when you are too.

Kona does need someone who will exercise her occasionally or give her a good size fenced yard to roam in but she will always want to have access to you and want to keep you in her sight whether it’s inside or outside.

She does ok with kids but if they are jumping on her or at her, she may get scared. Though she has always been fine with children, those which wish to aggressively play and crawl on her can make Kona nervous so owners try to limit interaction or redirect those kiddos away.

Kona is a true sweet girl that only wants to be love and give love. She can be strong willed but will cower when yelled at loudly but she honestly doesn’t need much correction with her sweet nature.

A FEW POINTS FROM OWR:

-Kona is being rehomed because multiple members of the family unit are dealing with significant health issues which require everyone's full attention

-Spayed, microchipped and current on her vaccines

-Kona sometimes leaks urine when laying down (and has for a very long time). In the absence of UTI's or other treatable ailments, her current vet believes this issue to be a result of a less than perfect spay surgery which occurred before her current owners acquired her (at 3 years old after being returned to her original breeder). It would be wise that we try administering Proin etc to see if this helps with the issue

-Kona is non destructive when left home free roaming but she is accustomed to living day to day life with at least one of her caregivers present

-She is great camping in an RV and being left behind in this type of environment

-Loves going for walks with other dogs

-She is not fond of fireworks or gunshots

-Good in the car

*Cats: Kona is certainly good with her house cat, this may or may not translate into being accepting of your cat or other outdoor cats.
