This lovely girl is around 9 years old and is looking for a place to crash, do you have a couch?
Lola is a loving and entertaining Weimaraner. She loves taking long naps on the couch, is good on leash, enjoys car rides, loves little dogs, and gets along with big dogs who give her space and will just hang out with her.
Lola will alert her person when she sees a dog while on a walk, or senses a person near the home and she is good about handing the “problem” over to the human to manage.
She is incredibly adaptable, her foster being her third home that we know of, she moved in, found the couch, barked at a suspicious noise, met the neighbor and seemed to think, ‘this must be my new pad’.
Due to a chronic eye infection, Lola recently lost vision in her right eye. The infection is gone and she is not in any pain. She adjusted to using the left eye with such ease, her prior owner did not know she had lost vision.
Lola is about 10-15 lbs. overweight and has a few lipomas (fatty tumors) that are not particularly attractive, but per the vet they are harmless and better left alone.
As is the case with some female dogs her age, Lola suffers from incontinence. She is on common, daily medication that costs about $20/month. .
More fun stuff - Lola loves baths, walks, people time, vegetables, her couch and rummaging through the kitchen garbage if you are so kind as to leave it out.
She gets very excited about going on dog walks! She loves being outside, sniffing the air and moving. She will pull on the leash at first, but responds well to reminders not to.
In Lola’s prior home she lived next door to cows and horses and paid them no attention unless the three dogs who visited often were there, then they would all bark at them.
She will chase a cat (has never caught one), and she’d likely go after chickens if they are free range.
Lola is not comfortable around large dogs that are hyper and get in her space and she'll let them know it with a growl or a bark. But she does enjoy the company of other dogs to roam the property, go to the river, or just hang out.
A mellow dog companion of large or small size would be wonderful for Lola. She will also do well as an only dog if her people are there to give her lots of love.
When it comes to people, Lola enjoys attention from adults and children alike.
She was very good with the grandchildren, ages 2 to 12 who visited her prior home of five years on a regular basis.
Lola is not crate trained so her normal place to sleep is .... the couch. But if you are so inclined, she loves sleeping on the bed with her person! And she can be left alone in the house when her person is gone, but there is a high price of barking and mouthiness when you return!
Lola is a sweet girl whose back-story starts at a shelter when she was adopted by her most recent owner. So we know she has moved a few times already.
Despite the unfortunate choices people have made for her in the past, she absolutely adores people and appreciates their love.
If you are looking for an opportunity to help a deserving senior Weimaraner, consider this girl!
