Scooter
Meet Scooter! This friendly, handsome boy is all about having fun and being a social butterfly. He is a German Shorthair Pointer mix with a gorgeous long tail. He's about 1 year old,, weighs 65 lbs. is up to date on vaccines, microchipped and neutered.
We are excited to tell you about this guy! Do you need a reason to smile all day long? Everywhere Scooter goes, people smile and comment how pretty and sweet he is. He has a sparkle in his eye, is kind and has the most important qualities in a canine companion. Scooter LOVES many things…
Scooter loves other dogs (male or female) and playing chase! He is friendly, never pushy and really good about backing off if the other dog does not want to play. We’ve not had him around small dogs but believe he would be fine. We are looking for a home with a medium to large dog who enjoys playing with him.
Scooter loves people! He is a snuggle buddy and wants to interact and hang out with you. We’ve not had him around children, and while he is sweet through and through, he is too excitable at this stage for small kids.
Scooter loves exercise! He is high energy and ready to run and play. He is good on leash and while he is not trained to walk next to this person, he is not a puller, nor is he leash reactive when he sees other dogs. He would be a wonderful running or hiking partner!
Scooter loves toys! He is easily entertained with toys and enjoys chasing balls. It’s fun to watch him so full of joy and amusement with a toy. It’s also nice to see him enjoy naps with his dog friends or just relaxing in the sun.
Scooter does not love his crate but can be left in one for a couple hours with a Kong when his person is gone. And he sleeps in his crate at night. He will do best in a home, at least initially, where is people are around most of the time.
This young guy has been through a lot. He was found running with his leash attached but no person, and spent ten days in the shelter waiting for his person to pick him up. He can be anxious about change and it takes time to convince him it’s going to be OK. He shows his insecurity by jumping on or barking at his person for attention. Not all the time, he just has moments of worry. He is getting so much better as he settles into his foster home.
It is evident his prior owner trained him on some basics and made sure he was well socialized, but we gather he heard “no, no, off, no, off, down, no, off” which would only confuse him. But he is learning with proper training! And he enjoys his training sessions, especially since he gets treats, attention and something fun to do.
To ensure Scooter gets off to the best start, OWR will cover the cost of initial sessions with his adopter and a trainer.
If you are interested in adopting Scooter, please submit an adoption application.
