Bo

NOTE! We originally posted Opal and Bo as available as a pair. However, after a lot of time with them, discussions and time with trainers and a lot of time working with both dogs, we concluded each one will be much happier moving to a home with a new dog companion who can help them learn dog things, gain confidence and have companionship.

IF you submitted an application or an email of interest regarding just Bo or Opal, we will move your application to that dog’s file for review and consideration.

Mr. Bo:

Bo is amazing! He is sweet, gentle, smart, fun, and happy to meet you.

Bo is about two years old, recently neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines and weighs about 60lbs. He is house trained, crate trained, good with the heel command and knows “Sit”, “Down”, “Touch”, and is learning “Wait” (at the door)  and “Leave It”.  Bo loves meeting new people in the home and in public, and has met youngsters and was not alarmed. He doesn’t guard toys or food from people or his dog mate, and you can pick him up, touch his ears, mouth or tail and he does not care. He is quiet in the home and calmly joins his person at the door when someone knocks (keep your alarm system!) When he’s had enough of napping, he walks around with a toy in his mouth or comes over to say Hi then goes back to napping. But be assured, whatever room you are in, Bo is with you.

Bo is young and active and likes to burn energy! He enjoys wrestling with his dog mate, playing fetch and going on walks and runs with his person. He is also very into chasing squirrels and would chase a cat if he had the opportunity (sorry, no cats or small yard animals for this guy).

When Bo got home from the shelter, his foster parents noticed immediately that he is good with people, easy going around the house, a cuddle bug, and at times, very playful. But he also came to us unsure and unfamiliar with the big outdoors and could be overly cautious and fearful of a lot of things (cars pulling out of driveways, other dogs, different walking surfaces, etc.). But with daily training sessions, time to adjust, and trust in his people he has made incredible progress!! Bo will undoubtedly come upon some new scary things and will look to his person to lead the way, but we are comfortable in knowing just what he will need in his new home to be a happy dog.

Bo will do best in a home with a dog companion. A well behaved and easy going dog for Bo to follow and learn from would be amazing. If his new companion likes to play, that’s a bonus! Bo enjoys wrestling with his dog mate, running in the yard and competing in Fetch!. Bo recently met a male Weimaraner and after some time on leash, walking and getting to know each other, they played in the yard. So a male or female dog with a proper introduction could be a match.

Bo also needs a person/people who are his calm and confident leaders. Experience with the Weimaraner breed is helpful, but as important is having the time and desire to continue with Bo’s daily exercise and training (nothing complicated, just asking him for something and rewarding him for following the command - repeat :-)).

While Bo has met children and is very good with them, we do not recommend little kids (under age 9) in the home due to having no history of Bo living with children.

If you are interested in adopting Bo, please submit an application, or let us know of your interest and that you have an application on file.
