Bristol

This beautiful girl is looking for someone to love. She adores people! Bristol is a snuggle bug and if allowed, she will lay on top of her person. She loves running off leash and exploring in the forest and will enjoy walks on leash as well. She is fabulous in the car and ready to go where you go!

Bristol will be 7 in April. She is spayed, house trained, current on vaccines and weighs about 85lbs (her ideal weight is 65lbs). She is a WeimarGoldenDoodle. Per her owner and parents’ papers, Bristol’s Dad is a purebred Weimaraner and her Mom is ½ Poodle and ½ (Black) Golden Retriever.

From Bristol’s Owner:

‘Bristol is a very calm, keen and intuitive girl. She has never been sick and is not a problem dog on any level. She is VERY much into her person and LOVES with ALL her heart and soul. She has never been around kids, but will do well with a devoted couple, without cats and possibly another dog. Unfortunately, I am no longer in a stable place, and I want her to be in one.’

From an OWR Volunteer's Evaluation:

Bristol is a very sweet, happy dog. She is calm and friendly and walks well on a leash in a park setting. She was given a few commands and she did them with ease (she knows Sit, Stay and Shake).

Bristol met the volunteer’s well socialized male Weimaraner and the two were interested in meeting at first but ultimately just wanted to sniff grass and ignore each other.

Bristol’s combination of breeds shows in her intelligence, calmness and curiosity. She could see that Bristol has been well cared for by the condition of her beautiful teeth, manicured nails and beautiful coat (it’s very soft).

Bristol is not crate trained but she sleeps quietly on a dog bed at night. When her person is away from home, Bristol has always stayed outside with her dog mates with access to a barn or garage. In her new home, if she is to stay indoors when her people are gone, a dog door is advised so she can get outside and feel less confined. Due to her upbringing and what she is accustomed to, Bristol is not a candidate for an apartment or a home without an attached, fenced yard.

Bristol has lived with several medium to large dogs and gotten along well with them. She is not accustomed to meeting new dogs so she will need practice (she does not react badly, but is uncomfortable). She would no doubt find a dog park overwhelming and need some time and socialization training to get used to the setting.

Given her natural prey drive, cats, chickens and small dogs are not a go for Bristol. And, given Bristol has not been raised with children nor had any experience with them, only dog savvy older children are recommend.
