Nala
Meet Nala who is full of personality! She turned five last month and is well behaved, yet still has that silly girl thing going on. Her tail is wagging all the time!
Nala was raised on 7 acres and with the use of a dog door and an invisible fence, she had access to the entire property - wee! She was lucky to have neighbor dogs, big and small, who often visited for play dates on the property. But divorce and the reality that she would have to move to an apartment forced her owner to do the best thing for her, and she became a part of the OWR family.
Nala is not crate trained. She is very good in the house when her people are gone. There are many things Nala loves and few she doesn’t. She loves playing with a ball, going on car rides, being chased to give back the ball, running, and being in the mix of whatever is going on! Nala has never lived with a cat so we are not inclined to suggest she be put with one.
Her foster parents are committed to working on the very short list of areas of needed improvement for Nala while enjoying her company!
FROM HER FOSTER PARENTS:
Nala is a joy to have around! She is playful, energetic, expressive - and sassy! She absolutely loves to snuggle and wants to be involved in whatever you are doing. She's a little shadow and refuses to be left out! She's not destructive but definitely looks for her people when they are out of sight.
She is learning good leash manners and is practicing her skills every day with lots of exposure to neighborhood life: Dogs, people, kiddos, bikes, cars, etc. Consistency is great for her - she catches on very quickly and is eager to please. She sometimes gets excited, but easily settles back into a nice pace.

She has been living with a 9.5y male Weim who is very particular about his space and boundaries. She's picked up quickly on his social cues and (for the most part) respects his boundaries. Sometimes she'll push his buttons when she is overcome with her play drive and he is not in the mood.

Her play drive can get her into a bit of trouble with loud, giggling, jumping, excited small children. She loves to play with them, and while not malicious, she can get mouthy to get their attention. And, she lacks good spacial awareness and could innocently knock a toddler over.
Nala loves to explore the kitchen counter! Even if there is nothing to see or eat, she's gotta take a peek. She has no shame and has interrupted dinner prep while her people are present. Yet, we don't see counter-surfing behavior when we are away (via cameras). When it is mealtime, she sits and waits to eat dinner, and releases on command.
Nala loves to snuggle and be WITH you! She loves a warm blanket, tunneling under the covers and sleeping in bed with you. And, she is very well potty-trained; she's learned from her current housemate to paw at the door when she would like to go out (she sometimes abuses this as it's not ALWAYS to go potty! lol).
Our property backs up onto a lake and while she has not been in the water, she has been exposed to children playing, kayakers, boaters floating and wildlife (geese, deer, etc). She may vocalize briefly but will respond to commands. She was introduced to a remote collar where she can receive a vibration or tone via remote; she responds very well to tone!

She's a wonderful little pocket Weim and anyone would be lucky to welcome her into their family!
Nala is spayed, microchipped, current on vaccines and weighs about 55lbs. She came to us with a small tumor on her side which we had removed and she healed quickly and beautifully. She may end up with a small 2-inch scar on her side (you might see the lump pre-surgery in one of the pictures).
