Opal and Bo
Meet Opal and Bo! The sweetest friends you will ever meet. ❤️
Opal weighs only 40 pounds and is about 1 year old. While it's possible she could grow more she will be a "pocket Weim". Bo weighs about 60 pounds and he is about 2 years old. They both have pretty, silky coats, are at healthy weights, had good vet checks and will simply melt your heart.
Opal and Bo get along really well. They enjoy doing things together but they do fine when one goes on a walk without the other. So while keeping them together is our plan, if we are not able to find an ideal home, we will announce their availability for adoption as individuals.
They are spayed/neutered, current on vaccines, and microchipped. They were picked up as strays so we do not know anything about their past. While they’ve responded well to children in various settings, we do not know if they’ve lived with them, so kids in the home should be about age 10 or older. They both want to chase squirrels and Bo has a keen interest in cats; he even considered chasing a cat that was on the TV (LOL)! So no cats or small animals in the home/yard for these two.
We asked their foster parents for “a paragraph or two” for the bio and received a couple pages - haha! They are very committed foster parents who adore Opal and Bo and want the very best for them! This what they want you to know:
As with all Weims they should go to active homes who understand the breed. They are high energy and really do love their walks. They run and run in the backyard chasing each other and enjoyed a couple of separate light runs next to their foster mom.
Both are crate trained, though Opal sometimes asks to be let out during the night to go potty (or so she says ;)). They’ve been left at home in their crates a few times (max 3 hrs) and they whine and bark at first but eventually settle. They do not resource guard toys or food between each other nor with people. You can inspect both dogs’ paws, ears, mouth, etc without any issues.
They like going for car rides but when one gets excited about something outside, so does the other! Similarly, they feed off each other’s energy on leash walks and will react when they see other dogs. With more time, exposure and training this will change as they’ve improved already and in a short time. For now, they are walked separately and are both excellent with the heel command. Walking them individually on the trail or at a busy local marina is a joy.
Opal and Bo love being with people and want to be near you pretty much at all times (bathroom included). When people knock at the door they do not bark, instead they come with you to see who is at the door. They are very friendly with new people, no matter the situation or whether the person is big or small, in the house or in public.
They are super smart and really eager to learn things. They are getting pretty good at basic commands including waiting at the door until told it’s okay to pass through and they are working on "leave it" to keep them from getting into things at the house and reduces distractions when out walking.
Bo: Bo is a really sweet boy who loves to cuddle in the morning. He is generally a pretty relaxed dog around the house, but welcomes any wrestling and chasing when Opal wants to play. He very sweetly will get up from his dog bed to come say hello and get a few pets before laying back down. It’s pretty adorable. When he isn’t relaxing he likes to carry around his favorite toy. He is a gentleman.
Opal: Opal is a little cutie pie. She is a bit behind Bo in learning commands and is learning it’s not okay to jump up and put her front paws on people when she wants to say Hi. She doesn’t seem to do this with toddlers and kids, just tall adults. She still has a lot of puppy energy and is usually the one that starts any play. She is pretty good about bringing the ball back when playing fetch. She has unlimited fetch energy! Opal needs Kong toys, otherwise her toys won’t last long.
