Wyatt

Meet Mr. Wyatt the Wonder Weim!  Sadly, Wyatt’s owner recently passed away and he is in search of his new perfect home.  He comes from a large rural property where he was able to roam free and chase bunnies and sage rats.  He is 80 pounds, neutered and up to date on his vaccinations.  He was raised with smaller toy dogs and got along just fine with them. He is currently in a wonderful foster home in Bend. The following was written by her:

Bio from foster

Wyatt is the SWEETEST dog ever. He's 3 years old and appears to come from very good stock and has a wonderful disposition.  He has George Clooney bedroom eyes, old-man chill vibes, long velvety floppy ears and a heart of gold. You can tell he was well cared for and well loved.

DO NOT read further unless you are the kind of dog owner who will include your pup in everything, because he deserves an owner who will look at him with googly, love-struck eyes until the end of days. He loves affection and returns it immediately; he will shoot an arrow through your heart.

I’ve had him for three days and we have already bonded. I have a 11-year-old male Weim who pretty much ignores him, and he doesn’t have hurt feelings about it.  My one-year-old female Vizsla on the other hand can’t get enough. They play joyfully and fall asleep next to each other.

We take several walks a day. Off leash he is well behaved and has good recall. He has a mild prey drive and can sniff out a bunny or squirrel, but he doesn’t lose the plot and will come right back. I was shocked to find him quite good on a leash, but he does like to stop and smell the flowers.

He is very good in the car.  During the day, he and my dogs have pretty much lived in my Toyota Sienna between walks. I've taken him all over the place because my days are packed with meetings and they all come with me.

He is house trained but has not learned how to use a dog door yet, but is willing to learn. His one very interesting quirk is that he is afraid of stairs and does not like thresholds in entryways or stepping from one surface to another in the house until he gets used to it. He sleeps sweetly through the night.

He’s a super chill, go-with-the-flow couch potato but he’s ready to go when it’s walk time, and he will make someone a great hiking or running partner.  I imagine he’s great with older children and would thrive in a family situation where he is an essential part of the pack.  Wyatt seems big at first but folds into a little ball on your lap like a sleeping bag in a stuff sack. He could stand to lose 5-10 pounds but with nutritious food and lots of exercise that would be easy.

He’s gentle with everyone he meets, and has a charming and loving personality. Once he’s bonded, I am certain he will be a good protector and good judge of character regarding unwelcome visitors or encounters.

Once he learns the ropes of his new home, I think he will be a Wonder Weim.

Because we do not know how Wyatt behaves around cats we will be looking for a cat free home.  He also has no experience around young children.  While he is a total love bug he is a bigger guy that can be goofy and accidentally knock a  small child over.
