Dolly

Good golly miss Dolly! This 3 year old female weim x lab is just about as friendly of a doggo as you will ever meet. This spayed, 65#, microchipped and vaccinated lovebug starts every day the same way, butt wiggles and endless kisses. She is fully crate trained, responds well to commands (sit, lay down, wait, stay, paw/shake, high-five, go to your place and crate), takes treats gently, potty trained, leash trained, is good in the home free roaming and has shown no resource guarding issues. This lovely lady enjoys a good lounge on the bed and will willingly spend all day at your feet if you happen to work from home (which we do). She has shown no issues ever being around children of all ages or adults. Although Dolly slightly favors a female touch, she is certainly no stranger to foster dad when she wants to come spend some time in the workshop.

Dolly was relinquished to our foster care after roughly 6 months with her prior adopter (not adopted through us though we have the original paperwork) because the prior owners felt she was not playing nice with the other dogs encountered in their life...and while we agree that she initially arrived a little more full of bravado towards other doggos than one would desire, she within 2-3 days had proven herself to be totally fine living alongside, and at times literally laying on top of, her two adult weimaraner housemates with only a very basic level of foster parent oversight/correction. While her prior owner was a very kind person, they did not exude a lot of pack leader vibes and we think that this may have been contributing to Dolly taking up the role as best she knew how (now Dolly has multiple pack leaders and is doing great laying back and following the established hierarchy/expectations). Dolly's disposition is one of relaxed contentness in just being, if anything she is uncharacteristically calm for a dog her age and this may explain her occasional desire to intervene as the fun police when other dogs are getting too crazy (in her estimation) haha. Although she will totally engage our far nuttier 3 year old male in chase and play at times, she more often than not will simply look at him running around like a mad man and go charging in and act as a literal roadblock as if to say "why are you doing this? you should chill".

Other tidbits about her: She is not into fetch. She loves a good antler or bone and himalayan yak cheese chews have become a huge success. She does have a purported allergen to poultry in her food and she did dispatch a chicken once so we just want to avoid chicken of the living and dead varieties :) She is completely fine in a wire crate and will gently alert if/when she needs out. If you are into snuggling on a bed, she is down to oblige. Warm water bathing was no issue at all.
